Journal of Investigative Dermatology (JID), publishes papers describing original research relevant to all aspects of cutaneous biology and skin disease. The spectrum of interest is determined by the breadth of the field and readers of the journal. Topics include biochemistry, biophysics, carcinogenesis, cellular growth and regulation, clinical research, development, epidemiology and other population-based research, extracellular matrix, genetics, immunology, melanocyte biology, microbiology, molecular and cell biology, pathology, pharmacology and percutaneous absorption, photobiology, physiology and skin structure.

Readership:
Physicians or scientists in the fields of biochemistry, biophysics, carcinogenesis, cellular growth and regulation, clinical research, development, epidemiology and other population based research, extracellular matrix, genetics, immunology, melanocyte biology, microbiology, molecular and cell biology, pathology, pharmacology and percutaneous absorption, photobiology, physiology, and skin structure.

Journal of Investigative Dermatology provides:

Original Articles, Communications, Mutation Reports, Review Articles, and Letters to the Editor are standard features. Perspectives and Commentaries are commissioned by the Editorial Board.

  • Original Articles - high-quality investigative studies communicating the most significant findings in the field. It also includes more detailed structure/function analyses.
  • Communications - concise reports of work of unusual interest or importance with limited but definitive data.
  • Mutation Reports - short manuscripts concentrating exclusively on data, with limited commentary about the literature except as it pertains to the data reported. Mutations are novel and provide new insight into structure or biologic function or be responsible for a phenotype hitherto not reported to be caused by the gene containing the mutation.
  • Mini-Review and Review Articles - description of recent developments in the field. It is accessible to readers not intimately familiar with the subject under review and should increase readers' interest and describe important recent developments.
  • Letters to the Editor -reports on original data or discussion of published articles.

What makes Journal of Investigative Dermatology stand apart from other resources?

  • High Quality Research - the journal publishes high quality, independently peer-reviewed research and review materials from the leading researchers in the field. This is reflected in its impact factor of 4.406* making it the most highly cited research journal in dermatology.
  • Multi-discplinary Scope - the journal covers a wide variety of topics related to the field of dermatology and cutaneous biology. Original articles are organized by discipline.
  • Accessibility to a Broad Readership - articles published in Journal of Investigative Dermatology are accompanied by supplementary information in the form of text, figures, tables, or images, giving greater insight into primary research.
  • Advanced User Functionality - the clean design of Journal of Investigative Dermatology facilitates easy navigation and retrieval of information for users, including those using assistive technology.
