Aims and Scope:

Neuropsychopharmacology is an international scientific journal and the official publication of the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology (ACNP).

Celebrating 20 years of distinguished research, this journal focuses on clinical and basic science contributions that advance our understanding of the brain and behavior, especially as related to the molecular, cellular, physiological and psychological properties of agents acting within the central nervous system and the identification of the new molecular targets for the development of the next generation of drugs. In the view of the interdisciplinary nature of the field, particular emphasis is placed on:

  • Studies that advance the biological bases of normal and pathological behavior
  • The nature, etiology and pathphysiology of neuropsychiatric disorders
  • Biologically relevant aspects of the epidemiology, diagnosis, and treatment of these disorders
  • Basic mechanisms by which psychopharmacological agents exert their effect.

Readership:

Psychiatrists, neurologists, neurochemists, molecular biologists, pharmacologists and psychologists.

Neuropsychopharmacology provides:

  • Original Research - high quality, peer reviewed, authoritative preclinical and clinical research articles communicating the most significant findings in the field.
  • Perspectives - critical examinations of the current state of research in a specific area.
  • Correspondence - Provide a forum for the discussion of recent articles published in Neuropsychopharmacology.
  • Complicated Case Studies - reflect the journal's responsibility to clinical neuropsychopharmacology as well as to basic neuropsychopharmacology.

What makes Neuropsychopharmacology stand apart?

  • Comprehensive Research - with contributions ranging from basic science to clinical, Neuropsychopharmacology provides peer-reviewed original research from leading researchers dedicated to advancing the understanding of brain and behavior.
  • Complimentary Reviews Collection - Neuropsychopharmacology Reviews, published annually as a singular reviews journal, will cover neuroplasticity through 2008 with more than twelve in-depth articles, complete with NPG-quality illustrations, in over 300 pages. Available for single issue purchase starting January 2008, this impressive collection will be complimentary with any Neuropsychopharmacology subscription.
  • Accessibility to a Broad Readership - articles published in Neuropsychopharmacology are accompanied by supplementary information in the form of text, figures or videos. This allows readers to tailor information to suit their individual needs.
  • Unique Online Features - selected articles are published online in advance of appearing in the print version, providing immediate access to the latest research.
